Passengers have been waiting for three years, for the new Tri-Rail station, a whole year longer than expected. The new station at Miami International Airport will be done in January. Don’t get stuck, make sure you call Wow Limousine to insure your ride!

Miami Tri-Rail constructionThe original station closed in September 2011,now getting to the Miami International Airport has taken some planning, patience and great deal of planning. First you have to get off the train in Hialeah, then take a shuttle for 15 minutes.

With the new Tri-Rail station the riders will be able to walk off the trains , take an escalator to a new automatic elevated train that then runs directly to the terminals. Making the commute a lot easier. Getting off? Not a problem, soon you’ll be able to hop on the Metrorail, Amtrak, or Greyhound buses.

The set back has been due to the rise in cost. Before starting the new station officials said they could save $10 million in construction if they closed the original station. The price went up $8.2 million due to additional railroad signals and tracks that needed to be added to the project.

Officials hope the station will get its final permit by the end of December, with Tri-Rail trains running there by January. Amtrak will begin operating at a later date.

Tri-Rail’s original Miami Airport station opened in 1998, becoming the southernmost station on the 72-mile line that runs from Miami to Mangonia Park, just north of West Palm Beach.

Passengers that ride to the airports make up South Florida’s  Tri-Rail service. Tri-Rail may not stop directly at Fort Laderdale- Hollywood International or Palm Beach International airports, but do drop them off at a near by stations where they take shuttles to and from the airport.
